The overcrowded situation in touristic sites in national holiday.


Vacationers, at home and abroad, swarmed tourist attractions across Viet Nam during the six-day long holiday, which started on April 28 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification on April 30.

Cat Ba Island, dubbed ‘pearl of the Gulf of Tonkin’ in the northern city of Hai Phong, recorded full lodging occupancy with over 7,500 tourist arrivals.

Ha Long Bay, Co To Water Park, Bai Chay Tourist Wharf, and resorts in the northern province of Quang Ninh were all also in full swing.

Meanwhile in the central province of Quang Binh, the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, welcomed a record 35,000 visitors over the four days of the holiday, attracting them with its magnificent caves and streams.

They also had the chance to enjoy a two-hour concert featuring popular songs under the baton of Japanese conductor Akira Ota. VMany holidaymakers chose Da Nang as their destination to watch the annual spectacular fireworks display, which drew the participation of domestic and foreign competitors.

Its four-to-five-star hotels posted an estimated occupancy rate of 95% while three-star hotels were 85% full and lower-end hotels along major roads and My Khe beach were filled to capacity.

Sam Son beach town in the central province of Thanh Hoa expects to earn VND2 trillion (US$95.2 million) over the 2015 beach travel season, serving an estimated 30,000 visitors during the holiday period. A busy atmosphere was also seen across the southern tourist sector in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc island in Kien Giang, among others.
